Democratic government will work to the full advantage only if all the interests that matter are practically unanimous not only in their allegiance to the country but also in their allegiance to the structural principles of the existing society. Whenever these principles are called into question and issue arise that rend a nation into two hostile camps, democracy works at a disadvantage. And it will cease to work at all as soon as interests and ideals are involved on which people refuse to compromise.
Joseph Schumpeter, the 1925 chair of the department of economics at the University of Bonn wrote those thoughts in his 1942 book Capitalism, Socialism, and Democracy. Schumpeter goes into great detail in that book. He describes Marxist socialism, American capitalism, and democracy in sometimes simple, but also complicated terms. Schumpeter said all capitalistic societies will adopt some form of socialism to survive. Capitalism is a destructive force, and it has to consistently reinvent itself in order to grow. American greed capitalism is reinventing itself at such a fast rate that it is almost impossible for it to maintain balance and produce economic and social stability.
The election of Donald Trump is more than a break in the established rules of politics. It is an obvious lack of concern when it comes to repairing the system in an orderly and agreeable way. It is also confirmation that greed capitalism is eroding the structural principles of American society. Social unrest from that erosion may surpass all other periods of unrest in American history. The world is watching greed capitalism destroy any allegiance it has with democracy, and any allegiance it has with social equality.
The inability of the American two-party system to agree on anything is a symptom of the self-induced illness that is weakening democracy. Democracy is operating on life support, and cause capitalism is on the seriously ill list. Hybrid forms of socialism are in the birth canals of the nation, and social equality is emerging from the ignorance of egocentric political buffoons.
This is the dawn of social enlightenment, and America is waking up to a new world. Greed capitalism is following slavery to the bowels of ignorance.
